OpenAthena™ Desktop and Core v1.1.0 Now Available


OpenAthena™ Desktop and Core v1.1.0 are now fully released and now available to our select partners, drone manufacturers, and end users.

This marks the first major release since v1.0 was published in early May. It’s absolutely packed with improvements and new features including:

  • Added support for machine learning derived Digital Terrain Models (DTM) with global coverage including GEDTM and FABDEM (which model bare terrain elevation rather than treetop/building-top height such as with SRTM, DTED, or COP30)
  • Added support for fisheye (wide angle) camera lenses such as typically used on FPV drones
  • Reduced OpenAthena Core’s RAM usage by a few hundred MB to improve performance on FPV and similar low-resourced drone platforms
  • (OpenAthena Desktop) added what3words as a coordinate output mode for use in drone as a first responder #DFR workflows
  • (OpenAthena Desktop) improved interface for Cursor on Target entity type selection, allowing targets to be defined to as specific or unspecific of a category as the operator intends
  • Cursor on Target messages output to TAK now allow the user to configure time until stale and max network hops (multicast TTL)
  • Added Cursor on Target registration message capability for connecting to TAK servers which require it
  • Improved TAK server interoperability, especially for encrypted CoT/SSL connections
  • Added CoT ssl “insecure” switch so that encrypted CoT/SSL sessions can still be established with self-signed certs from TAK servers
  • (OpenAthena Core) added new path to API that other applications can use for OpenAthena to forward CoT messages to connected TAK servers
  • Numerous performance, stability, and usability improvements
